On a building plot occupying 1200 square meters in the center of Thessaloniki, between Nikis Avenue, Ag. Sofias Street and Proxenou Korormila Street, one can find a block of shops and apartments of 5,800 square meters in total. It is a seven storey block having also an underground parking area, two entrance doors, each one with a stairway, as well as two apartments on every floor, flanking each stairway side. The land owners’ wish, adopted by the contractor, was to attribute an eclectic form to the building to blend with the old coastal road location and the surrounding properties built at the beginning of the 20th century.
In this context, a building solely for residential use was designed bearing all the features for the contemporary way of life as well as the particular form.
The design is based on clarity in the horizontal and vertical axes, emphasized by cladding material and window bays. The building’s façade is characterized using long-lasting construction materials resistant also in a coastal environment. Attention was given to the continuity of details throughout the construction creating thus a sense of unity throughout the building.
