LANDSCAPING ARCHITECTURE ΑΤ 12 APOSTOLOI, THESSALONIKI

OOur design study won the 1st prize in a competition organized by the Municipality of Thesssaloniki on the protection and showcasing of monuments and of the broader area as well as on the improvement of the residents’ quality of life. Our primary objective was to preserve and unify the existing local architectural elements and integrate them into new and carefully designed interventions. Therefore, we proposed some solutions for landscaping and area reclamation, the proper handling of traffic problems, the construction of a pedestrian-friendly environment and the improvement of the microclimate by increasing green spaces, promoting afforestation and supporting a vehicle-free scheme.
Using calm and clear surfaces and proceeding with mild interventions, we managed to emphasize historical character of the area through its monuments.
