The building’s location and shape were determined by a mandatory restriction of the buildable surface to a specific width zone. Building a residence away from the side road border is a principle based on a specific rationale; to limit the view to the building from the road. This way it is possible to take advantage of the characteristic views of the city while meeting the need to move away from the main road axis of Panorama.

The architectural synthesis embodies those classic principles represented by Modernism. Streamlined and intersecting volumes, and fundamental geometrical shapes are the major tools of this synthesis. The residence is structured on five levels to achieve a better bond with the extremely sloping ground as well to exploit the view to Thessaloniki and the Thermaikos Gulf.

The road through which one approaches the residence was aligned on a free curve and thus it is possible to view the house from several different angles. Thus, one can gradually see the buildings full extent emerging on the slope. At the same time, the border to the adjacent lot is dictated by a typical shear wall.

The entrance is in the center of the fourth level. One can have a double frontage view from there due to the large openings and the arrangement of the levels. The dining room, the kids’ rooms and the bathrooms are built on the same level. A typical staircase with steel elements lead to the upper level were the owner’s bedroom, the dressing room and the bathroom are located.

The living rooms are set out on two middle levels, located below the entrance level, with large corner openings and panoramic viewpoints. The lower one is used as a day area (lounge). Outdoor and semi-outdoor areas as well as the swimming pool are designed to be in contact with the main day accommodation areas which are an extension of the lower level. The semi-outdoor space is bordered by auxiliary retaining walls, which serve at the same time as vertical accesses.

The interior is characterized by a staircase which leads from the entrance to the elevated level and the fireplace whilst it also establishes a distinctive between the interior and the eastern section of the garden.

The traditional pitched roof shape was opted for, mainly due to the building’s shape. However, the coating material, that is zinc foil, is an attempt to “translate” the traditional architecture terminology into modern jargon. Parts of the facades were covered with Serena type grey marble piles in horizontal arrangement. Τhe stainless steel railings blend perfectly with grey aluminum, the rooftop coating material and the facades marbles resulting in a strict color matching.
